We specialize in advanced hydrologic simulation and computational analysis, field
evaluation and data collection, and spatial and statistical analysis, serving
clients across engineering, research, environmental, and agricultural sectors, as
well as legal and expert witness testimony.
We use a combination of industry-standard tools and custom-developed software to
meet your project needs while providing the insights necessary for you to make
informed decisions about your projects.
Application of Hydrologic Models
Phillips Research and Consulting applies computational models using software such as Drainmod, APEX, and SWAT to simulate natural ecosystems; assess current conditions; and model potential changes to ecosystem responses based on different management alternatives. The predictive models developed through these analyses enable decision makers to select long-term approaches that provide the most cost-effective means of utilizing available resources, maximizing crop yields, increasing crop productivity, improving site trafficability, and restoring degraded wetlands.
Field Work
Phillips Research & Consulting conducts field-based data collection to develop strategies for hydrologic models and hydrologic model management. Field measurements and observations and drone-based aerial surveys are combined with remote sensing using satellite imagery and monitoring station historical datasets to better understand the overall condition of a site. Dr. Phillips is certified as a Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Remote Pilot through the FAA and conducts all commercial sUAS activities in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
Spatial and Data Analysis
We integrate GIS, Python, R, and custom computational tools to analyze large-scale hydrologic, soil, crop, and geospatial datasets. The analytical procedures developed by Phillips Research and Consulting enable a level of transparency and reproducibility (traceable) and quantitative precision (reproducible) across all three stages of analysis: modeling, spatial assessments, and statistical evaluations. We can employ advanced techniques (e.g., machine learning and/or artificial intelligence) for classification, predictive models, and identifying patterns among multiple variables when warranted based on project requirements. All computational methodologies are documented to provide technical rationale.
Custom Software Development
Commercial software applications often do not fully address project-specific analytical requirements. To better serve our clients' needs for analysis, we develop customized computational tools or software enhancements based on project-specific goals. Customization enables greater flexibility in modeling, additional options to manipulate parameters, and enhanced post-processing capabilities. Custom workflows enable sensitivity and calibration analyses beyond commercial software constraints as well as automatic statistical evaluation of batch model runs. Tools are designed with reproducibility, documentation, and long-term maintainability in mind.
Client Confidentiality and Data Security
Phillips Research and Consulting is committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of client information. All data handling practices are consistent with confidentiality agreements, contracts, and court orders. Authorized personnel have limited, role-based access to our data systems. Encrypted, password-controlled systems protect client information, and we employ backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity. In the unlikely event of a security breach, all impacted parties will receive notice in accordance with relevant legal and contractual obligations. Where required by a project, our data handling practices are structured consistent with federal security standards (including FedRAMP-compliant environments). Upon project completion, clients can request secure removal of their information.
Thank you for considering Phillips Research and Consulting to assist you in your next project.
